Mary Eileen McDonnell, born April 28th 1952 in the United States, is a stage and film actress. McDonnell was awarded an Academy Award nomination for her performance as Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves and she is well-known for her portrayal of President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica as the wife of President during Independence Day and for her prominent role in Donnie Darko as the title persona's mother.
